Tried to setup a new VM as a work machine on a separate usb/nvme drive. Used a personal computer and a wireless microsoft keyboard/trackpad combo. Spacebar wasn't registering all keypresses. Ended up opening it and adding some electrical tape on top of the space button in the membrane to increase the height. Looks like this dirty fix works.

- we went to bed at 2am, way too late to have a decent night and be ready for
the bicycle ride with that friend so I told him I couldn't make it. I didn't
felt too bad because I knew it was a planned ride with 2 other friends of him
so it is not like I left him on his own. Still, I shouldn't make a habit of it.
I still rode the planned route (95km with +2500m of climbing) but with a 2 hours
delay. First time I do a long ride in the last 6 months for various reasons:
illness, vasectomy and travel. A consistent headwind in the first half of the
ride made it a bit harder than I anticipated, I was dead in the last 3 climbs.

- received some replacement gears and belts for my Philips Ghettoblaster
- replaced the rear wheel of my steel road bike with a shimano compatible one
after buying a 11-32 microshift cassette. Plan is to have a working bike for
tomorrow as I may ride with a friend we just met a few weeks ago. Problem: that
shimano compatible freehub is actually a 9sp and below freehub. I had forgot
shimano had changed the standard to acomodate for 10 and 11s cassettes. I
managed to hack a solution involving removing the 11t starting cog, using a
spacer on the spoke side and some plastic shims (normally meant for a crankset
I believe) to allow the 11t specific lockring to apply pressure on the 12t cog.
It works but I need to find a better solution ( or a new wheel ).

I am in pyjama and I realize we didn't take any photo of new year eve nor first
day of the year
