2024-12-26

Tried to setup a new VM as a work machine on a separate usb/nvme drive. Used a personal computer and a wireless microsoft keyboard/trackpad combo. Spacebar wasn't registering all keypresses. Ended up opening it and adding some electrical tape on top of the space button in the membrane to increase the height. Looks like this dirty fix works.

2024-12-25

• was about to put a new roll of Fuji 200 into the Minox and had some kind of second thought and decide to test the shutter again. I am glad I did, the shutter randomly do not do anything or sometimes open but do not shut until I advance the film. I need to have a look again.

• we went for some seafood next to the beach, had a few beers then decided to come back home were I prepared a Tarte Tatin for dessert. So yummy.

• we watched El Bolero de Raquel from Cantinflas (1957?), a famous mexican comedian.

• received processed negatives of a roll from a waterproof disposable camera I used during my vacations in Mexico in november. Suffice to say the result is very deceiving and I didn't even get half of the 36 exposures. Most of the picture were taken in Xcaret park and sadly it was a rainy day si we didn't get enough light.

• mounted flat pedals on my vintage road bike and combined christmas shopping and road riding. The weight of the thick chain I am using as a lock didn't really bothered me in the handful of shoet climbs I took, but could be felt from my back towards the end.
• Acessed the state of the Minox 35 GT
• Found a way to power it taping 4 LR44 batteries together with electrical tape.
• Fixed the shutter following tips other owners
• Timer function still doesn't work. Meh.
• had fun in a bar where a friend of my partner was djing for the first time. He is currently taking classes in music production.

• Received a Minox 35 GT in unknown state. One of the smallest full frame 35mm camera.
• found out one of my colleague doesn't seem to understand what he does most of the time. He also randomly do git commit -am without verifying withe a git status what he is about to commit. Thanksfully this time I catched it before he put a password in the repo but I am npt sure he truly underdtand the risk. :(

• Couldn't find a cr2 battery for the ricoh RZ-728 locally.

• Received a Philips D8623 ghettoblaster/boombox. How should it be called? As a kid/teenager I used to call it ghettoblaster but most english speakers seem to call it boombox. I thought it was a later word coined with more moderns CD/radio/cassette portable stereos but it boombox word seems to have predated ghettoblaster if I consult wikipedia and dedicated web pages. In catalogs and store at the time we used to read portable radio-cassette...

• received a Yashica CS-220 flash and a ricoh RZ-728 camera

• spent the night shooting cinestill 800t in the streets with my Yashica Electro 35GX

• Update on the Konica TOPS:

  After a bit of fidling with a plastic tool to open and repair smartphones, I managed to open the battery cover. Since a second test show same difficulty, I left it open while I will wait to buy the Litium battery that should be good for many rolls.

• My website hasn't even been published anywhere yet I already change my mind about how to build it. I started with mkdocs but want something more flexible and basic using pandoc. I also don't want a ready made generator and build it myself although it will likely be based on pandoc.

• I received a Konica Tops point and shoot 35mm film camera. Battery cover seems stuck.

• I received 2 rolls of 35mm Cinestill 800T film.

• I installed QubesOS on a usb SSD drive to test it out.
