No you don't need android studio, it's a RAM blackhole and an infamous bloatware only useful if you develop Android apps.

Translating using a text editor is perfectly fine. Just ensure you keep the string placeholders and don't break the XML. There must be some more advanced and specialized tools though.

I'd like to create a guide for open-source app translators.

  • hopefully I didn't break the XML (there is a warning because the letter yod (י) looks like an apostrophe ('))

  • If you have any tools in your mind, just throw the names here, and I will search for them and try to translate with them in the future update of the app.

  • btw there is a cloud-based translation website that is very easy to use, but I guess it will cost you. If you already have a VPS maybe it will work for you, Here is the website: https://weblate.org/en/
You can see how it works with the example of Tails
they use it to translate their website: https://translate.tails.boum.org/

Unfortunately, I don't know any.

Yes, I should take a look at weblate.

Hey, you can have a look at the Breezy app to see how it is implemented in Android.

I also noticed that the code for Hebrew is iw and not he. So, I was wrong; it should be values-iw and not values-he. I saw this in the Breezy app.
